Supported Independent Living (SIL)
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is a long-term home with 24/7 support, 365 days a year. Participants live in one of Koala Life Care’s safe, fully furnished homes. Our trained support workers help with personal care, daily tasks, medication and building everyday skills.
Our team also provides high-intensity support for people with complex needs, including behavioural support and round-the-clock assistance, tailored to each person.

How We Can Help
At Koala Life Care, our SIL services are tailored to each participant’s individual needs and goals. We provide:
24/7 Care and Support
Support workers are in the home day and night, 365 days a year, whether you need full-time care or help with specific tasks.
Strong Medication Management
Our staff support each participant to take the right medication at the right time, following their medication plan.
Highly Trained Staff
Before working with a participant, every support worker is trained in that person’s needs, preferences and care plan.
Daily Living Assistance
Help with personal care, meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, budgeting and other daily tasks, so you can live comfortably and independently.
Social and Community Participation
We encourage participants to take part in social activities and connect with their community, building relationships and confidence.
Personalised Support Plans
Every participant receives a tailored support plan that reflects their individual goals, preferences, and care needs.
Good to know
Who SIL is for
SIL suits people who need support around the clock, including people living with mental health conditions, who live in a standard home without major mobility needs. If you use a wheelchair or need a fully accessible home, see Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), where SIL support can also be provided.
How SIL is funded
You pay rent to Koala Life Care from your own income, and your NDIS plan funds the support you receive. Need somewhere for less than three months? See Short & Medium-Term Accommodation.
Our goal: independence
Our goal is to help each person become as independent as possible. With the right support and a clear care plan, someone who needs a lot of help today may need much less next year.
